A couple performance issues have been traced to certain game controllers being used to play DEATH STRANDING in Steam, particularly with Xbox One controllers.
Vibration functionality can cause framerate drops, particularly in cutscenes. If performance is degrading to the point where it is affecting your enjoyment of these story and dialogue sequences, disabling vibration completely will eliminate them. We have not experienced this behavior with PS4 controllers.
We have also identified an issue with controllers having an impact on in-game performance and framerate. For this and other similar in-game stuttering and hitches, players have reported a successful workaround:
- Disable controller support in Big Picture Mode
- Set Steam Input Per-Game in DEATH STRANDING's Properties tab to Off or your Default setting
- Framerate and performance should return to normal
We are continuing to investigate the issues above and will share more information with our players in the near future.
